Things to consider while designing an Interior Space:
Before you jump into any conclusion, do an extensive research about your interior design concept in mind. Ask yourself ample number of questions and find answers to those. Which are the essential elements you want to change? What style was your home and what style you want it to be? What ideas you need to incorporate in order to attain your satisfaction?
Six things you have to be keep in mind before starting interior work:
1.DETERMINE THE PURPOSE OF THE SPACE
Be prepared to design around the purpose of a room. Ask yourself some of the basic questions like what you want and need. Always focus on the priorities and circumstances of each space. A kitchen should have the necessary appliances and furnitures for meal preparations. Bedroom should have furnitures needed for a comfortable sleep. The design of a living room should be according to your own preferences. You can prioritise your living room as per your wish with a nice TV set or a cozy seating. Therefore, whenever you consider designing a space always force the purpose.
2.GIVE IMPORTANCE FOR FREE SPACE
A room which is overcrowded will lead to restlessness. Enough free space will make the room feel larger and peaceful. When you design your space always keep in mind to leave a little extra space. Too many decorations and equipments will give a feeling of suffocation. The key is to leave right amount of space for the activities of the room and for walking.
3.AVOID FURNITURE THATS TOO BIG
Do not fall for fancy and oversized furnitures. Measure and plan according to the size of your room. Go for furnitures that can be incorporate into different spaces. It would be fun if you are out to look for a puzzle piece kind of furnitures that can fit your space. Hence the final advice is to, hunt for furnitures that can fit appropriately into the space.
4.DECIDE ON A COLOUR SCHEME
It is always good to choose a colour scheme from the largest pattern in the space. You can also select colours from the fabrics or furnitures in the room. Apart from that you can also gather inspiration from your favourite things to create a colour scheme.
Try to decorate the space from dark to light. Certain spaces have certain colour scheme. Go for bright colours in the dining room to increases your appetite like spicy orange, apple green, citrus yellow or grass green. When it comes to bedrooms go with relaxing colours. Soft greys on the walls give a serene and contemporary bedroom setting as well an overall calming effect. Whereas, sky blue gives a relaxing effect and also makes space look more open and spacious.
5.CONSIDER LIGHTING AS AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT
A room which is gloomy with dark walls doesn’t give an inviting atmosphere. The build-in-lights and the position of the lamps always bring a big difference in the lighting of the space. But, at the same time bright lights will be hard for the eyes.
When the lights are chosen perfectly to fit the style of the room, they have the potential to give life to the space. Alway try to use soft and warm lights to give the feeling of calm and relaxation.
